RARE VINTAGE HOODEDMERGANSER HUNTING DUCK DECOY: #D-2

  • Referenced in Bernie Gates book Ontario Decoys 2, page 82.

  • Some of the back feathering marks still showing although some are faded.

  • Solid body folky style hunting decoy with not splits or cracks.

  • Carved from cedar posts using a hatchet to relieve most of the wood bulkyou can still see some of those hatchet marks on the bottom.

  • This decoy came into my collection over 35 years ago from a friend who’sGrandfather was a close friend of King’s.

  • Measures: 13 ¾”inches, by 5 ½” inches, by 5 ½” inches high.

  • Truly a wonderful rare and hard to find folky Hooded Merganser drake invery good condition.
