RARE VINTAGE JAPANESE LAWSUIT “VOGUE” PRECISION P BASS COPY MIJ CIJ JAPAN RELIC:

I’m reluctantly selling my very rare, late1970s Vogue Precision Bass copy from the heyday of Japan’s “lawsuit” productionera. I have never seen another of these.

This is a player’s bass, not a museum piece, but is aperfectly functional professional instrument that sounds amazing (I’ve included a photo ofme playing it on stage just last year). It has dings and imperfections all over(see photos), but nothing that shows from five feet away. There are a couple ofcracks in the finish around the neck plate (see photos) where a previous ownermust have over-torqued the screws, but these are in no way structural. All the “relicing”is entirely natural from more than 35 years of use.

This bass is all original other than the MusicMan-stylebridge, but I am including the original bridge and bridge cover (see photo).The thumb rest and pickup cover are long gone, but these are freely availableonline. The truss rod is functional, though my tech tells me it is stiff. Thefrets have wear, but the bass is entirely ready to play as-is (though a set-upto the winning buyer’s personal taste is always recommended). * I am also including a brand new black pickguard, which I never installed (it literally still has the protective plastic on it), if you want that Dee Dee Ramone look!

The sound of this bass is incredible and, in my experience,unique. Because of the MusicMan-style bridge (I assume) it has all the “scooped-out”clank of a Stingray, but with all the body of a B-Pass, meaning that sits well in the mix even with loud, distorted guitars (unlike, in my experience, an actual Stingray). But if you load flatwound strings (and/or re-mount the originalbridge), it can do that Motown thump with aplomb.

The strings are new. There is no case, but I will have thisprofessionally packed by UPS. ** Note that I will be shipping this bass withthe neck removed, to keep costs down for the winning buyer (reattaching theneck is simply a matter of turning four screws) **
