This vintage 1964 Gibson SG Custom is in excellent condition. According to the Gibson shipping totals, this is one of only 130 SG Customs shipped in \'64, and while most you find are beat up and broken, this one has had no refinishing or repairs. It has a beautiful original Polaris White finish with all gold hardware. It has 3 early patent number sticker pickups which are visible in the photo. The fretboard is beautiful ebony, the body is mahogany. As you can see in the photos the guitar has significant finish checking which is fairly normal for a guitar of this age. The checking is purely finish cracking and not the wood. Some of the tuning keys are slightly bent but are fully functional. The sides of the neck have some finish cracks from play wear. The guitar plays great and has a big fat comfortable neck profile. The pickups sound awesome with a clean sound or distortion. The neck pickup is exceptionally warm and fat sounding. This model has a Maestro vibrato with lyre logo on the cover plate. This model guitar was played by Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy! You can see Hendrix playing one on the footage from his performance on the Dick Cavett Show.
