Up for sale, a rare 1964-\'65 Welson DS2 vintage hollowbody electric guitar in very good working order with a few cosmetic flaws.All the electronics work,straight neck,low action,smoothly functioning vibrato bar and alloriginal parts with the exception of one of the six bridge gears and non essential old bridge cover.This vintage thinline hollow body has loads of mojo with warm,woody tones,stinging twanger highs and classic 60\'s soul-blues tones in the middle. Founded in 1921,Welson company began producing quality electric guitars in 1962 alongside brands like Eko and Vox. One of the rarer models produced in Italy by Welson, this early iteration of the DS2 model features a 335-style body and pair of stock humbuckers that have the chime and midrange of a mini-humbucker, yet also percussive and round qualities analogous to a Wide Range humbucker. The bridge pickup in particular has a great dry snap and twang and the clear and balanced acoustic properties of the instrument really do come through when the guitar is plugged in. Featherweight at 5lbs 10oz, this Welson is a ton of fun to play.The maple neck has a fast,thinline profile, The guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots and the scale length is 23 1/2\", with a rather slinky feel partially due to the extended string length behind the bridge. The nut measures 1 5/8\" in width and on the headstock and the original chrome tuning machines are in good condition,though a little tight and could some oiling..All of the electronics work as they should, with a three-way blade switch pickup selector and individual Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup.Perfect for warbles and modest dives, this vibrato (and the tone of the guitar in general) lends itself to surfy twang and spy movie goodness, and would be a great secret weapon for a Country or Americana session too. The chrome plating on the vibrato and pickup covers is in excellent shape, and each chromed piece of hardware is marked with the miniature embossed \"Welson\" name. The stock pickguard is present as well.The only real flaws are some finish checking (extremely common with Italian guitars of this vintage) and the small spot of finish loss on the back.*NO CASE* but will be packed with care and lots of bubble wrap!!Please feel free to email any questions you might have have and thank for looking!
