Collapsible ATCO Kamp Kup Cup Compass Magnify MirrorUp for sale is a great antique German Camping Cup . ATCO KAMP-KUP - Very Scarce multipurpose camp cup with built in compass , magnifying glass to help start a fire and signal mirror on base of cup. This cup measures appro. 3\" tall in the opened position and is marked inside ATCO Germany . This is most likely from the WW1 - WWII era. There is some wear and dings as shown. I am thinning out my collection and will have others listed in the next few weeks.

These cups were used by Military Officers and some enlisted men in the early years for a shot of whiskey, etc. They were later used by gamblers , pioneers and travelers around the world and they became quite ornate and fancy by the end of the 19th century .There were many Civil War / Indian War / Spanish American War era folding cups made, nickel and silver plated , pocketwatch style case , advertising cups , engraved cups ,etc. in every size, material, and style . Some date from as early as 1860\'s Civil War era, others date up to 1890\'s Victorian era and some will date into the 1930\'s and 40\'s where they were carried in automobiles and on family vacations . This is about which time they were going out of favor. It was common to see cups like these in the vest pocket or purse of wealthy gentlemen and ladies in the late 1800\'s to the early 1900\'s . Early in the 1900\'s they began using these as methods of advertisements in the form of Give-a-Ways or Premiums .
