This fine estate piece is the rarely seenHenryk Winograd .999 fine silver repousse Sheepdog paperweight. From the whimsical expression on the dog's face to the incredibly detailed shaggy fur...this piece is an exceptional example of this artist's work.
Henryk Winograd was one of the world’s greatest 20th Century masters of traditional silversmithing techniques. He was undoubtedly the leadingpractitionerof the historic art of Repoussé in America. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 91.
This intricately detailed paperweight is truly a work of art. It bears theWinograd hallmark "HW999", which is a combination of his initials and the silver content of the work - 99.9% silver (considered to be pure silver).The hallmark is impressed into the top of the base.
This magnificent paperweight measures just shy of 4" tall, and is 2 3/4" wide. It is also 2 1/2" deep. It weighs 13.4 ounces. Certainly it is weighted with cement or plaster. There is a felt protector on the bottom.
It is in excellent condition.I have taken many macro pictures which you may click on to get a closer view.
