For sale is a unique and rare vintage WASHINGTON ATHLETIC CLUB insulated carafe / beverage server. This insulted carafe was used by the WAC to serve hot beverages in the restaurant and lounge and to guests staying at the WAC hotel. It was manufactured by Landers, Frary & Clark (L.F&C) of New Britain, Connecticut. The Washington Athletic Club of Seattle was founded in 1928 and the club and hotel facility was built and opened in 1930. It has been a Seattle landmark ever since. The Stanley Insulating Company began mass production of the Stanley vacuum bottle, insulating jugs and beverage servers in 1915. In 1916, William Stanley died and by 1921, the Stanley Insulating Company had been bought by Landers, Frary & Clark of New Britain, Connecticut. In 1933, the Stanley manufacturing plant was moved to New Britain, Connecticut. Based on this history of the WAC and Stanley companies, the manufacturing date for this item is post 1933 when the Stanley manufacturing plant was moved to New Britain, Connecticut.This insulted serving pitcher is made of chrome plated steel. It has an inner stainless steel liner. This inner liner is vacuum sealed to create an insulating barrier to the outside. There is a hinged lid on top. On the front of the pitcher is embossed with the art deco WAC winged logo. On the bottom it is embossed \"Stanley, It Will Not Break, Landers, Frary & Clark, New Britain, Conn., U.S.A.\" There is also \"Patent No. D.69311\". This design patent was issued on January 26, 1926.This pitcher is 6-1/4 inches tall. It is 4-1/8 inches in diameter across the base. The capacity is 12 fluid ounces. This all metal pitcher weighs approximately 1 pound 14 ounces.This vintage piece is in very good used condition. The chrome plating is nice and very shiny. It has light scuffs and scratches to the surface from use. There is one tiny pit mark to the right of the winged logo. The hinged lid functions as intended with no issues. The inside is clean and useable with no leaks or defects. There is no chrome loss. Please see photographs.
