This rare foot would be great for the collector, or the sewer who works with gathers.The item featured in this sale is known as either the gathering foot or the shirring foot. What makes this one so special is that it is the earlier version, part # 25979, rather than the commonly found # 121441. It appears in Singer\'s teacher textbook, Machine Sewing, dated 1924 and 1930, while the rounded toe we\'re more familiar with is found in the later editions of this reference book. (See the last picture to see both feet, for comparison only - the newer version is NOT included in this sale.)This attachment is stamped with its part # 25979, as well as \"SIMANCO U.S.A.\" on the side of the shank. It fits all Singer low shank vintage sewing machines, such as the class 15, 27, 28, most 66s, 99, 201, 306, 206, 237, and many others, as well as the beloved Featherweights 221 and 222. It is in EXCELLENT used condition, and actually looks like it was very little used. It has none of the corrosion or rust usually found on a foot of this age, and It\'s all ready to jump into your next project, and give many more years of use. Also included in this sale will be a COPY of the sections (2 paragraphs from one page) from the Singer\'s teacher textbook of Machine Sewing which covers the use of this attachment. These give detailed information on how to get started using your \"new\" accessory, with illustrations. It\'s quite easy, and you should be able to produce very nice shirring with just a little practice.
