and Military insignia are not for sale & not a part of the sale of these historical books. They are a demonstration of the awards and achievements of the brave young Pilots depicted herein, and the spiritand pride in which they served. I think each day the sun rises and shines upon this small collection ofhistory that many days past a young, brave airman proudly wore these on his uniform. That same sun oftoday shined upon the face of these Air Service insignia and warmed the faces of these young and very brave pilots. Here we have arecorded history of the New England Aviators. Each individual story is magnificent and most unique in it\'sown telling. Each story tells of the Pilots home town, dates, most times who their parents were, where they served andhighlights information of their combat engagements. No doubt a greatGenealogy tool as well.
A handsomely printed work, in two volumes, entitled \"New England Aviators\" to contain the pictures and records of the men of the Air Service with introduction by President A. Lawrence Lowell of Harvard University, will be issued during the holiday season by Houghton Mifflin Company. This work comes as a response to a demand of those who became interested in the remarkable collection of Aviators\' pictures exhibited at horticultural Hall last December, that those pictures with their accompanying records should not be scattered, but should be preserved in permanent form. This collection has been substantially enlarged, so that the forthcoming volumes may be said to offer a representative group of the flower of New England manhood, whosecourageouswork in the air proved so vital a factor in the Great War. These volumes will contain pictures of the some 500 Aviators, with records, citations, and descriptive matter relative to the brilliant exploits of the men, and will appeal, notonlyto the relatives of the Aviators, but to all who have an interest in the magnificent achievements of those in our Air Service. The work is dedicated to the NewEnglandAviators who have given their lives in the service of their Country and should remain a lasting memorial to their heroic sacrifice.
