This is a very rare WW1 antique commemorative souvenir laceand silk pillow scarf. It references oneof the battles of Ypres that took place in Western Belgium, near Flanders. It measures approximately 25” square and isconstructed of light purple silk strips set in lace. It was most likely made in France. The center panel is cream-colored silk,painted with a burning building and “Souvenir d’Ypres.” It also has four appliqued light blue silkbows on the corners and four coral colored roses. Considering it is a century old, it is inexcellent condition. The colors arevibrant and there is only one small hole on the lower right lace. It does need ironing but I leave that to you.
