I havegathered them over the last 2 years from deceased estate sales allaround the country. Most of the American figural napkin rings were madec1860-1899, and I believe a lot of them found there way to Australia inthe gold-rush period in Australia in the 1870/1890\'s.I havelisted them nowasthey have accumulated over the last 2 years while I have been engagedin a big supreme court action.

This is a fabulous LARGE and very impressiveantique American figuralnapkin ringc1880 which has Tritonblowing his shell horn with the napkin holder supported by istail and the back of his head. The deatil is extraordinary and thisfigural napkin ring takes on a most beautiful and elegant form. See photos below.It is marked MeridenB (Britannia) Company 201.Some info on Triton:Triton is a mythological GreekGod, the messenger of the offer sea. He is the son of Poseidon. Heis usually represented as a Merman, having the upper body of a humanand the tail of a fish. Triton\'s specail attribute was a twisted conchshell on which he blew like a tumpet to calm or raise the waves. It is shown in the book by Gottschalk andWhitson\'s book\"Figural napkinRings: Collectors Identification and Value Guild\", in plate 351on page 144. It is one of the best American figural napkin rings you will find. Itis very rare and rarely appears in such excellent condition as thisitem.This figural napkin ring is inverygood to excellentcondition.I have not polished it. It has a nice patina, the ring is perfectlyround. There are some minor scratches dings and minor waear in spots. In nice authentic aged condition.
