This is a fine quality sterling silver “bon bon” bowl, made by Reed & Barton of Taunton, Massachusetts, in the “Francis I” pattern. Francis I was designed by Ernest Meyer in 1906, taking inspiration from Italian Renaissance silver designs produced for King Francis the 1st of France. It is fairly heavy for its size, with good substantial feel regarding the thickness of the silver, weighing 310 grams (10.93 oz) and measuring 8\" in diameter at its top - it has a height of 1 7/8\" at the edge. The underside of the piece is stamped with “Reed & Barton Sterling X569 Francis I” as well as with the horseshoe date cypher, denoting the year of manufacture as 1948. This is a wonderful addition to a Francis I collection or simply as a beautiful standalone piece - striking repoussé pattern! This is a fine quality sterling silver “bon bon” bowl, made by Reed & Barton of Taunton, Massachusetts, in the “Francis I” pattern.  Francis I was designed by Ernest Meyer in 1906, taking inspiration from Italian Renaissance silver designs produced for King Francis the 1st of France.  This bowl is a real beauty with gorgeous repoussé fruit and acanthus decoration to the rim of the bowl.  It is fairly heavy for its size, with good substantial feel regarding the thickness of the silver, weighing 310 grams (10.93 oz) and measuring 8\" in diameter at its top - it has a height of 1 7/8\" at the edge.  The underside of the piece is stamped with “Reed & Barton Sterling X569 Francis I” as well as with the horseshoe date cypher, denoting the year of manufacture as 1948. The bowl is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, scratching, denting or other defect.  This is a wonderful addition to a Francis I collection or simply as a beautiful standalone piece - striking repoussé pattern!
