REUHL TETHER RACING BOAT (1940-41): VERY RARE COLLECTABLE.:
$1775.00

Vintage Bakelite Reuhl Hydroplane, first model designed & produced by revered tether car & farm-equipment toy-maker Andy Reul (he added the Htohis company\'s name for easier pronunciation).
Excellent restoration /investment project.
Powered by the original Brown Junior Motor, Model \"D\"(1930’s), 1/5 HP, Champion Spark Plug, Ultra-Low Serial #: D733, a collectable itself (85,000 Model D motors were sold by 1941). Missing prop, minor blemishes (see photos) but no real damage, cracked side rail, lightened spot on nose. Engine turns smoothly but not run in many years.
Reuhl Products, Inc. was officially formed in 1940. The company\'s first toy, the Bakelite Hydroplane, exhibited many of the traits that made the company successful: detail, realism, quality, and kits of many parts to be put together (and taken apart) by the buyers, for fun or to replace parts. When World War II began in 1941, Reuhl Products shut down because of a lack of materials, then reopened in 1945 producing tether racing cars & model farm equipment which today are highly collectible-- many sell for thousands of dollars.
This Reuhl Hydroplane is 26 1/2\" Longx 8\"Wide x 6 1/2\" High.
