FOR SALE - The book, My Ocean Trip - including a VERY short hand-written account of a voyage on the R.M.S. Olympic
- First entry is dated Sept. 3rd,1914 - (World War One began in August - Guns of August, etc.)
- The Olympic was a sister ship to the R.M.S. Titanic of the White Star Lines.
- Captain Herbert J. Haddock (March 30, 1912 – Sept. 16, 1915) was captain at the time.
- I\'ve transcribed some of the text:
Sept. 3rd, 1914 - The lady who wrote it describesvisitingSoho, London Bridge, Battersea Park, Headquarters of Suffragettes, Tower Bridge, and remarks at seeing a building used for the housing of German prisoners.
Sept. 16th, 1914 - \"Olympic sailing Sept. 16th, 1914 - Wednesday about 6:30 sailed from Liverpool - a smooth sea, but...\" She continues talking about rough seas, bad weather, a fire, and an encounter with the British cruiser, The Suffolk (1903).
I can\'t make out all of the hand-writing, but my partial transcription will be included.
- Book cover has some dings and discoloration. Pages are nice; no folds, bends, or tears.
- Scribbles on a couple of pages; looks like an unruly child got ahold of the book for a minute.
- Book measures 7.75in.x 6.25 in. and has a total of 87 pages. Features bunches of charts, tables, Flags, etc.
- I found the bookon the outskirts ofCincinnati, Ohio. Mystery...
