is the subject of this 1999 Rosenthal Christmas Plate, the 26th plate in Rosenthal Christmas “Classic Rose” series which began in 1974 as a continuation of the Rosenthal “Traditional Christmas” series which began in 1910. Multi-color underglaze hand-painted design on white porcelain, diameter 8.5 inches (21.5 cm). Pierced foot for hanging wire. Inscription (in gold): WEIHNACHTEN (German for Christmas) 1999. Design by Helmut Drexler. Marked on the back: UNTERGLASUR (Undersglaze) and HANDGEMALT (Hand-painted).
The Catholic Cathedral of Limburg, dedicated to Saint George, is located above the old town of Limburg in Hesse, Germany. The building is one of the most accomplished buildings of the late Romanesque style. Construction began sometime between 1190 and 1200, and the church was consecrated in 1235. The dramatic polychrome external plaster of white, red, ochre, black and some green, was restored between 1968 and 1972 following the original designs.EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, or repairs), and FIRST QUALITY(no scratch through the trademark).
