This special Roseville BanedaTrial vase stands 4.25" high by 4.5" in diameter. It comes from the George Krause Collection. According to Roseville author, Mark Bassett\'s website, \'George Krause was Roseville Pottery\'s chief glaze chemist from about 1919 until the pottery closed in 1954. In a long-term creative partnership with designer Frank Ferrell, Krause\'s expertise and imagination defined the "Roseville look" for several generations.\' Bassett remarks in his book "Understanding Roseville Pottery", that Krause had some items cast in a white porcelain body to observe the differences in the glazes from a buff clay body. This is one of those trials, and it is shown in Bassett\'s book on page 144, side by side with the same form in a buff clay body. It is form 587-4, and it is decorated in typical Roseville Baneda style, in Roseville\'ssignature greenBaneda glaze with hints of brown, which is laced with a deep blue,very drippy and loaded with character, over a white porcelain body, which really presents differently than Roseville\'s Baneda pieces in the buff clay body. This vase islighter in weight, so if you did not notice the difference in the glaze, you\'d certainly know it was different when you picked itup. It is well marked with a series of codes,along with the date 1934, and it also bears the Krause Collection labels. Thisrare trial Baneda vase is inmint condition, no apologies. If you like Roseville\'s trials and experimental pots, this little bauble is a beauty!
