Wonderful Burroughs drawing featuring one of ERB\'s most famous characters, John Carter, by the legendary illustrator Roy G. Krenkel. An early alternate version prelim for the 1963 Ace paperback, see below, not included. St. John, Krenkel, and Frazetta remain the three greatest names in the development of the heroic fantasy tradition in the 20th century influencing a host of illustrators who came after them. Bernie Wrightson\'s greatest illustrated work Frankenstein is dedicated to Roy and Frazetta has marked his indebtedness to him in many of the Ace paper backs with his covers and wrote the introduction to the Art of RGK. These drawings are a piece of a glorious tradition. Each drawing was done with love combined with the most subtle skills of draftsmanship by an artist poet of the first caliber. 2018 will mark the centennial of Roy\'s birth and a large commemorative volume is in preparation to mark the occasion.
