ROY VINCENT MACNICOL~1889-1970~NEW YORKPainter, designer, teacher, writer and lecturer, MacNicol lived a rich and varied career, exhibiting widely throughout the U.S., Cuba and Europe. He resided mostly in New York City, studied at the University of Illinois, and was a member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society; the Lotus Club; and the Pan-Am Union. He exhibited extensively, including such noted institutions as the National Academy of Design; the Art Institute of Chicago; Lyceum, Havana, Cuba; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His work resides in the permanent collections at the University of Illinois; Randolph-Macon Woman’s College; University of Havana, Cuba; Reporter’s Club, Havana. He was the creator of the first Good Neighbor Exhibition, putting together a show with a Mexican theme, dedicated to international good will. He lectured on art and Spain. He authored the Paint Brush Ambassador, 1957; The Flame of Genius (on El Greco). He held the position of associate editor at the American Historical Company in New York City, and was a regular contributor to the Christian Science Monitor; Atlanta Journal Times Harold; Mexico City News; The Havana Post, etc. CONDITION EXCELLENT
