ROYAL COPENHAGEN 1924 Commemorative Plate #230 Post Rider and Crown – Danish Royal Mail 300th Yearis the subject of this 1924 Royal Copenhagen Commemorative Plate featuring a Post Rider (horse mounted mailman) surrounded by a laurel wreath, with a large Danish crown and the inscription: TRO OG AGTSOM (Faithful and Diligent). Commissioned on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Danish Royal Post. At the bottom are the back-to-back monograms of King Christian 4th and King Christian 10th (C4 and CX), who were the reigning monarchs in 1624 and 1924 respectively.The scene is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in cobalt blue under the glaze. Diameter approximately 6 inches (15 cm). Designed by Richard Bøcher, a listed artist, collectable in his own right, who designed more than 50 Christmas and commemorative plates for Royal Copenhagen in addition to painting numerous unique vases and chargers. Pierced foot for hanging wire. Appropriately marked on the back, including the three wavy line trademark of Royal Copenhagen. Listed in the Royal Copenhagen plate book as plate #230 with a 2004 book value of $75 to $125. EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, or repairs), and FIRST QUALITY (no scratch through the trademark).
