HMS TIGER

She was assigned to the 1st Battlecruiser Squadronfor the duration of the WWI and participated in theBattle of Dogger Bankin early 1915 and the Battle of Jutlandin 1916, where she was only lightly damaged despite suffering many hits by German shells. She also provided cover during the Second Battle of Heligoland Bightin 1917 and spent the rest of the war on patrols in the North Sea.

Tigerwas the oldest battlecruiser retained by the Royal Navy after the tonnage limits came into effect in 1922. She became a gunnery training ship in 1924 and then joined the Battlecruiser Squadron in 1929 when itsFlagship, HMS Hood, underwent a lengthy refit. UponHood‍ \'​s return to service in 1931,
