Rand McNally & Company 18 Inch Terrestrial Globe
“Copyrighted by Rand McNally & Company Chicago, Made in the U.S.A.”
ca. 1920-22.
This mahogany library globe by Rand McNally was one the highest grade globes available at the time. We can accurately date this globe by the addition of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 1920. Russia changed in 1922 to the Soviet Union. The globe is supported by a solid brass engraved meridian and solid mahogany horizon ring supported by a solid mahogany yoke which freely spins on an empire style base ending in scroll feet. The globe has an anelema or table of equation of time, showing the sure declination and the difference of time between the clock and sun for every day of the year. It also shows submarine telegraph cables.
Condition: Good, professionally cleaned and repaired with restored paper horizon ring. Originally had castors which are now missing. (probably removed for stability.) All repairs were done by one of the top globe restoration companies in the United States. More photos and available on request.
Height: 46” Width: 25”Local pick up available at no charge, contact us for other shipping options, we travel to the east coast often and could possibly deliver for a reduced cost if destination in close to route.
