An original rare and beautiful print from a ~120 year-old book, Pennsylvania Report of the State Commissioners of Fisheries for the Years 1895,These chromolithographs are from before the turn of the century and are guaranteed original. Interesting story here. For years I could not figure out who was the artist. The later year reports did not mention who it was. Some folks said “not Denton” like they were experts. Then I found the proof in the first edition of the reports and in the introduction it states, \"colored plates were made by Mr. Sherman F. Denton of Wellesley, Mass., from living or fresh specimens.\" These plates are rarer and more colorful then his (Denton\'s) later work (New York Fisheries Reports) that you see every day on ; however, not many people know the value of these earlier works yet. My guess when the cat is out of the bag, these will go up in value on (they are going up fast). Iwill send a copy of the proof being a Denton if you win. You will not see these prints that often! Print is in great condition. Slight yellow toning which is typical of prints this old (In this case the patina really adds character to print). My scanner does not pick up the details of this print! Blank reverse side. Page size ~ 9 1/2 x 6\". Fish image size ~ 8 inches long. Please check out my other items of rare and collectable prints.
