For sale is a Rare 1920s Advertisement Oleograph Raja Ravi Varma \"Laxmi\" Vinolia Soap London. Picture measures 19x24 inches. This is a Ravi Varma oleograph picture advertisement of Goddess Laxmi the hindu God of wealth. This is a 1920\'s picture, the design was from the original Ravi Varma oleograph print of 1894. The picture has a coat of varnish on the surface, the varnishing was an important feature of printing presses at that time, this was to ward off insects and colour fading. And was indeed effective as the picture still looks vibrant and is without any patches of insect bites even after more than 80 years. The Ravi Varma pictures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses were passed down from generation to generation as a family heirloom. Vinolia was the famous soap from England and was imported into British india at that time, it also gained popularity because it was supplied to the Titanic ship. The Vinolia company was taken over by Lever Brothers. Print will be shipped either rolled or flat. This is a very rare collectible and is hard to find.
