A beautiful & very rare, hand painted, Shelley Pottery, Art Deco, 1928, \'Nursery Ware\' patterned, beach tent teapot, designed and signed by Hilda Cowham. This Hilda Cowham, children\'s nursery ware teapot, often called \'The Tent Teapot\' depicts awonderfully modelled beach tent teapot, with two children sitting on the sand at the entrance of their tent, engrossed in a comic bookentitled \'Fun\' with their friendly little pet rabbitwatching.
It\'s inabsolutely fantastic originalcondition, manufactured by Shelley Pottery, England.The detailing and workmanship in this beautiful little teapot is truly superb, realstrong vibrant colours,absolutely exquisite. I really don\'t believe my pictures are doing this little teapot, true justice.The basehas all the green, Shelley England, distinct markings, with manufacturing number 726181, and guaranteed 100% genuine.

Condition ... No chips, cracks, scratches, damage, restoration, or paint loss. Just avery nice, early Art Deco, Shelley pottery, children\'s teapot, commensurate with age. Considering this tea pot is 86 years old it\'s in lovely condition.

Hilda Gertrude Cowham (1873–1964) was an English illustrator, famous for her work on children\'s books and ceramicnursery ware.

Hilda Cowham was a student atWimbledon School of Art, Lambeth School of Art,and theRoyal College of Art.She was the first women illustrator to publish inPunch.Her work was also published inThe Sketch, The Graphicand other magazines and periodicals. She illustrated children\'s books, such as Fiddlesticks in1900,Peter Pickle and his dog Fido in1906,Curly Heads and Long Legs in1914, andBlacklegs and Others in 1911. One of her characters, a \"bush haired, black stockinged imp with big sash bow and infinitesimal petticoats\", became famous as the \"Cowham child\" and was widely imitated.In the period 1924 to 1935, she and her friendMabel Lucie Attwellwere employed by Shelley Potteries Ltd to provide illustrations for baby plates and nursery ware.
