A little bitof history .. Aleksander E. Tillander left Helsinki as only 11 years old to

become an apprentice for a goldsmith in St. Petersburg,Russia.

At that time Finland as a country was a part of Russian Empire.

Once he graduated hefounded his own company that in the following 50 years became one of the mostwell known and renowned jewellery shops in St. Petersburg. During the turn ofthe century the business was transferred from father to the son - Aleksander T.Tillander. The shop was located on Nevski Prospekt in St. Petersburg andmanufactured glamorous, high quality and technically skilfully made pieces forits customers, amongst others the family of Tsar Nikolai II,whose wife was of Danish origin.

When the revolution started in Russia in 1917 Finland became independent.

Alexander Junior closed the shop in Russia and moved with his family toHelsinki and the following year 1918 thebusiness restarted again.

(Thus the bracelet for sale was made in Helsinki under his supervision )

As usual, the atelier continued to use previously accumulatedexperience,

information and know-how forfurther development.
