Here is a rare and unique print which is a silk screened image of the dark side of the moon formed from an actual photo negative taken on the Apollo 15 mission. NASA had requested submissions of art based on the Apollo Program. This is one such submission for which NASA allowed use of the negative. The print is by amateur artist Len Gittleson and he created 250 sets of 10 silkscreen prints for NASA. The sets, which are artistic interpretations from the actual Apollo photography are named \"Lunar Transformations.\" Sets reside in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, at NASA and other museums around the country. This is one of the original prints and is titled \"Lunar Features, Lunar far Side, Perimeter of Van de Graaff\". Each print was signed by L Gittleson 1972 and numbered in pencil, with this particular one 148/250. Will look great in a silver color frame!

Gittleson used photo negatives from Apollo 18 and turned science into art. He employed colors to separate different textures and features of the moon using a silkscreen process with beautiful colors to provide an artistic balance. This mint condition 22 1/2 by 16 inch silkscreen print on 28 by 22 inch stock is in black and silver paint, the combination emphasizing lunar craters. Unfortunately, my photos can\'t show the silver paint in its true form, as the contrast of silver on black is actually quite beautiful. For size perspective, the crater in lower center is a 5 mile diameter crater thought to be formed by volcanic action. Lots of information on the Van de Graaff crater can be found on sell!
