Rare 19th Century Anglo-Indian Planters Boot Chair Plantation Chair:
$1400.00
Exotic and authentic antique Anglo-Indian exotic wood plantation chair with outstanding original caned seat and turned legs. The back legs are gracefully curved with a stretcher creating the traditional silhouette. I have included detail photos of the back of the caning to show the workmanship, as well as the front to show the intricate design. The caning is in absolutely marvelous condition, although it is slightly separated from the seat in the front (see photo). It would not be terribly expensive to have the caning reattached to the frame, and this is the ONLY damage to the piece, which is truly in magnificent condition.
Due to the unusual slope, it is extremely comfortable and most suited for relaxation. I am 6 feet tall and I used to nap in this chair very comfortably. The arms swing easily and are fully supportive.
I purchased this piece at an antique store in the Hamptons and it has graced both that home and my apartment in the city. I am redecorating and this no longer fits with the aesthetic, but I am hopeful that someone will be able to appreciate and enjoy it as much as I have.
The proportions of the chair are perfect and significant. Please take careful note of the dimensions:
Arms-3 feet, 6 feet when extended
Seat Height-25 inches
Width of Chair-24 3/4 inches
Seat Back Height-3 feet
Overall Length (with arms closed)-43 inches
