Rare 19TH CENTURY AUSTRIAN KEY WIND CUCKOO CLOCK:
$585.00

I am lowering the starting price of this clock significantly and it is priced to sell. I cannot go lower than that. It\'s an incredible start for clock that you REALLY DO NOT SEE ANYWHERE and other chain operated clocks with similar fox grapes motif\'s are usually of a later date with less detailed carving. Just compare the photos and you\'ll see what I am talking about.

It\'s a great buy. Plain and simple.

The clock likely dates to late 1800\'s. Unlike later fox and grape motifs, you will see from the photos a level of carving of the fox, bird, and leaves that is much more detailed and done with greater finesse than the more commercially produced cuckoo clocks of the early twentieth century.Don\'t be confused. Examine the photos and compare to other clocks with similar motifs.

The winding feature for these clocks is a scarcity. The functioning of this mechanism is unique for wall hanging cuckoo\'s of this era (and later as well), and also a delight to have.

I picked this clock up in Munich over ten years ago. The seller told me it originated in Austria. I\'ve also read the saying: \"As wound up as an Austrian cuckoo\", which suggests to me that the history be likely authentic, but I cannot promise or guarantee. It is obviously 19th century. The movement has been cleaned including the barrels. The clock is functioning without issue, but it is over 100 years old so I cannot guarantee after shipping how it might be affected and accept no responsibility for that. I have a 100 percent response, am honorable and will package this lovely antique clock as carefully as I can. Please be careful as you unpack it as well.

There are long ago mended cracks in the crown and molding that I\'ve tried to photograph for as true representation as I can. I tried my best and since this is a very old clock, I cannot guarantee that I\'ve located and photographed each and every old mending.

The pipes are original to the piece. There is nothing like the old cuckoo sound. The bellows obviously repaired, one with tyvek or similar material, the other still has it\'s leather. This can be tweaked or changed to leather should you so choose, or just leave as is.

Dimensions are ROUGHLY 24 1/2\" top of crown to bottom molding, 17 1/2\" width of crown and 9\" deep from wall.

It needs winding every day. A key of my own will be included.

Study the photographs carefully and ask questions in advance of your buying it. You can see in the photos that one of the legs of the bird motif on the crown is missing. This can be left as is or easily cosmetically repaired. Personally, I would leave it as is.

no returns accepted, the item is over one hundred years old and all the possibilities that could go along with that therefore I cannot accept returns and it is sold \'as is\'.

I have good response and am a trustworthy seller that you can have confidence in.
