Rare 19thC Popov Russian Fruit Scene Saucer Porzellan Untertasse Popoff Russia:

For sale is a superb saucer made by Popov around 1820. Alexander Popoff founded the factory near Moscow in the early 19th century. The products were highly sought after and from 1810 until 1830 which is when they produced the best quality wares. The factory was closed in 1872. The top of the saucer has a superb ring around the rim of fruit and flower arrangements with berries in the mix as well. All this is on a black ground color with a gold ring around the center and the edge. There used to be a gold design in the very center of the white well but it has worn away and only the shade remains. It is in great condition with a little wear to the gold rings and the already mentioned worn center gold star design. The saucer is marked underneath with the underglaze Popow mark as shown.
