This is a rare and collectible, vintage Ginger Jar with lid.
This is a Celadon Jar with a gorgeous carved 3d motif all over it. Besides the Oriental scroll work all over it- there is a different floral scene on each of the 4 sides which is called the 4 noble men and depicts different seasons using- Bamboo, Lotus lily, plum blossom, & chrysanthemum. The detailing on this jar is very ornate for a celadon piece in this color, size and age.
The mark on the bottom is a 4 character mark that reads \"LongQuan Zhongguo\" which means Longquan China pottery. The mark is under the thick glaze, not stamped on top...I have only been able to find a couple other jars like this exact jar on the market, (1) sold in January 2016 online for a high price and they claimed to be selling it for under the estimated value at the time. There is another pair of (2) of these jars online right now for about $2500 at the time I listed this one.
measures: 8\" tall by 6\" wide overall dimensions / the top rim opening is 3.75\" wide and base is 4\" wide.
Condition: This is in amazing condition, no chips or cracks. The green glaze is thick on this piece all over and looks like it has tiny crystals in the glaze which gives it an amazing appearance.
Longquan celadon (龍泉青瓷) means this is Chinese celadon that was made in Longquan (龍泉) kilns which were mostly located in Lishui in southern Zhejiang Province. Note that these kilns have been shut down and no longer produced these amazing wares- this type of authentic celadon pottery bearing the Longquan kiln stamp is becoming more and more collectible as the chinese porcelain market Returns/Refunds Policy*...Please Note that we do not accept returns or refunds for buyer\'s remorse. *Damaged in shipment*... All of my items are insured against damage in transit, I pay extra for this! Do not ship items back for damage because this voids an insurance claim. Partial losses are paid as such by USPS/FEDEX, we don\'t refund 10 glasses because 1 broke and neither do they. All insurance claims are filed online now & there may be a delay in how long it takes the Shipper to process the refund, also USPS claims may require items to be physically taken the post office for inspection should they ask for them- We must have photos of the damaged item and the damage to the exterior of the box to process claims online, so you will need to be able to send us digital photos.
*Items lost in shipment or not received*... If they are lost in transit, we will be required to wait the specified time by the shipper to file the insurance claim- there is no other way to do this as that is their rules and we will have to wait their time limits.
