Here offered is an extremely rare and seldom seen Ames manufacture Nashua Artillery marked/etched on blade Artillery Short Sword. This is probably one of the rarest variations of U.S. Artillery Short Swords there is!! Note the all brass scabbard and the etched blade with Nashua Artillery marking - in 50 years of collecting an old timer collector only saw two of these and this one is in very fine to excellent condition. The blade is outstanding with all etching visible and super detailed on both sides of the blade. It is like high art!! You never see anything like this on a US Artillery short sword. It is on one sidedated 1839 by cross guard and has the Ames Springfield markingand all the other inspection stampings areon the other side.. The brass scabbard is outstanding with no dents, scratches or marks. The handle is excellent with no scratches, dings or cracks. Overall length is 26 inches in length.
