A fantastic porcelain casserole art pottery piece by Karen Karnes, measuring 11 1/2\" wide and 8\" tall .Photos appear pale blue, but the exterior is white, and interior is olive green.This is not a typical casserole form for Karnes, who seems to have been experimenting with alternative handle concepts...her typical strap-handle technique has been put aside here, to great effect.The knob on the lid could be interpreted and a winged insect or, interestingly, a pig\'s snout. The center of the knob pulled apart in the kiln as the porcelain shrank, with a torn effect.It\'s a very happy and interesting accident, I think, the kind of thing artists revel in, as process sometimes takes over in the act of creation.
