Early, 1892,black cloth,Americana baby!
ONE, 16\" tall, antique, early printed cloth, black baby with well designed features, curly black hair, wearing a long light blue dress with ruffles and buttons, front and back, holding a large, palepink bonnet in one hand, the other hand to her mouth. The base shows her shoes and petticoats and the patent information, c.1892. Stuffed with cotton bating and in fair overall condition-some age stains and a few small seam openings-a RARE cloth baby by Arnold Print Works, called \"Pickaninny\", pat. July 5, 1892 & Oct. 4, 1892 in the USA and England and shown on page 8, \"Playthings by the Yard\"-Walker & Whitten. dated on the base: Pat\'d. July 5, \'02 and Oct. 4, \'02. See herdescribed on pages 7 & 8, \"Playthings by the Yard\"-Whitton. (loc 12)She has no odors and is from a smoke free home. The smaller, 8 1/2\" size is called, \"Topsy\" and is not included, for reference only and has been sold. We are also listing another identical matching Arnold Print Works, \"Pickaninny\" black baby in pink dress as well as an Arnold Print Works, 1893,\"Columbian Sailor\" doll (last photos) inseparate listings.
