Rare antique 19th or early 20th centurywood glovetheater puppets. Possibly German or French, Guignol period of puppet theater. The alligator was used widely in the Punch & Judy shows. Three: alligator, blond woman, and butler looking man are made with a verythick wood and are different from the other three which are a thinner type wood / paper mache. All are in good shape for the age. The arms on the blond woman have worked loose from her outfit and will need to be repaired. The king is missing one arm. Description and approximate measurements are:

The alligator measures 13\" long and is in very good shape thick wood, painted face.

The Jester is 18\" long, head is 4\" in good shape with a hairline crack on one hand,wood /paper mache head and hands, painted faceandwood shoes.

The King is 12\" long, head is 3.5\" long, he is in the worst condition, some cracking on face and missing 1 hand, thin wood / paper mache material, painted face.

The Peasant Girl is 13\" long, head 3\" in good shape some slight cracking on face, thin wood / paper mache material, painted face.

Blond Hair women 14\" long, head 4\" in good shape but arms will need to be reattached. She is a thick wood, painted face.

Butler Guy is 16\" long, 4\" head, wood shoes in really good shape, clothes a few small holes on back of jacket.Made thick wood, painted face.

Please note these are collector puppets that were used in puppet theater over a 100 years ago. For the age of these puppets I would say extremely excellent condition. They do show signs of much use in the theater but look as though once put up they were rarely handled. You are purchasing these as is,so please ask questions and I can provide more pictures if necessary. They have been in my family but I unfortunately am unaware of their history.
