Theodore Icon of the Mother of God

Theodore Icon ofthe Mother of God - revered in the Russian Orthodox Church of the miraculousicon of the Virgin, kept in the Cathedral of the Epiphany of the city ofKostroma. Tradition ascribes its authorship of the evangelist Luke; theiconography is similar to the Vladimir Icon. Revered as one of the relics ofthe Romanov dynasty, as the legend connects it with the call in 1613 to thefounder of the kingdom of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich dynasty.

The icon, which is already a lot of people praying

This is an originalRussian icon dated end of XVIII beginning of XIX century. The restoration was doneon the edges of clothes, but other parts were not touched. Nimbus were redonewith the gold leaf and old time technique. Also were re-make letters and 2stars.

The icon painted on the wooden panel with thedimensions: 12 1/4\" (H) x 10 1/4\" (W) and approximately 3/4\"thick.
