Rare Antique Chase Elephant Bookends by von Nessen Brass and Bakelite Deco NR :

A fabulous and RARE set of antique elephant bookends designed for Chase by Walter von Nessen.
These bookends are not in mint condition, but the wear they do have is normal for their age and type. There is darkening throughout on the metal as well as some minor rust spotting and denting near the bases. It appears that only one of the bookends was polished, so there is a noticeable difference in tone between the two. One elephant\'s face has a chip on each side, and the trunks of each one look to have been re-attached at some point.
The unpolished (shinier) of the two has a very minor forward lean that can be seen in photo #5. The bases of each piece rattle a bit when they are handled.
Each one measures about 4.5 inches tall, 5 inches long from tip to tip, and slightly under 3.5 inches deep. 1 lb 8 oz each.
