This rare and large Rhode Island genealogy sampler was part of the most prominent sampler collection in America-The Betty Ring Collection. It is worked in silk on linen; signed Mary Morrell August 1818. Originally bought unframed, it was purchased from the famous Ring collection and became part of a prominent New Hampshire collection; now offered here. The provenance clearly goes back to the Sotheby\'s sale of the Betty Ring Collection where many samplers set world records.

It is wonderfully stitched with birds, flowers, tassels and columns and retains good color throughout-a gem.

Height 23 in. by width 18 in. Luckily it was never framed so one can really see the material, color and quality. Top is professionally stitched to an acid free mat. Will be sent as seen.

Condition: excellent. Fabric needs to \"relax\" having been bunched up somewhat because not attached at bottom; a minor issue where steam can be used if desired.
