This is a rare antique sewing thimble marked on the inside of the top with the Waite & Thresher Co. Hallmark (star with a thimble inside) and the number \"7\" for the size. Research shows this company to be making thimbles, among many other things, in Providence, RI, from 1884-1928. I believethis to be one of the earlier thimbles, rare to find from their scenery themed etches...two birds on a sprig with flowers in the center. Scroll workaround the rim of the base is a pretty touch.
There is somemisshapenness to the circular shape, not anything major. There is no other remarkable wear to report; this item is in used, not newcondition and looks pretty good for its 100+ years. The cartouche is blank and ready for a new monogram. I have a couple of sterling sewing notions up for sale.
