Here onoffer is a rare antique Victorian figural, Arabic head Tobacco jar, dating tothe late 1800s.

This Tobacco jar came from the Trevor Barton collection, a world renowned collector of tobacciana who died in 2008, he had been ammasing the collection for more than fifty years. Trevor Barton received the rare honour of being inducted into the ‘Academie Internationale de la Pipe’.

Thisstunning Tobacco jar has been modelled in the form of the head of a MiddleEastern gent with a wonderful Arabic look. The gent has an enigmaticallysorrowful look about his face, he his adorned with rich fabrics forming aturban on his head. The white body of the jar has been decorated using deeprich matt tones accented with gold.

There areno maker marks, similar pot have been made by Dudson, but this is of a muchhigher aesthetic quality, the detail is crisper and the colours richer and moretrue to life.

There aresome areas where the glazes have chipped away from the surface. There is a chipon the base that is not visible. The lid has an unusual area of damage that hasbeen repaired, it has had part of the top layer broken away put back intoposition, but the break did not go through the entire depth of the lid.

The Tobaccojar is being offered in good used antique condition, it measures about 14cm atthe widest point, by 17cm excluding the handles and weighs 633g.

A rare collectable piece.
