RARE ANTIQUE VTG 1920\'s WROUGHT IRON FOLK ART MEDIEVAL KNIGHTS HELMET ARMOR
This offering is for an antique circa 1920\'s or earlier wrought iron Knight\'s Helmet. The helmet could be much earlier but my gut feeling is that it\'s a folk artists idea of what the helmet for a suit of armor should look like and that it dates to the early 20th century. If it\'s earlier someone is going to get a real bargain. The helmet is full size measuring app. 12\" in height and 31.5\" in maximum circumference. The helmet is made of a heavy gauge steel constructed primarily with large hand hammered rivets but also having some early welding. The back of the helmet has small holes around the bottom flange which I believe were for attaching chain mail. There is a piece of old foam rubber glued to the inside top but my guess is that it\'s a much later addition to give a bit of comfort when wearing it. The original painted surface has some wear from use but looks absolutely great with an excellent patina. There are no bends, breaks, dents or repairs. The helmet displays great and will make an excellent addition to someone\'s collection, shouldn\'t it be yours!!!
