Rare Book Autographed By Susan B. Anthony To Elizabeth Cady Stanton For Sale
SUSAN B. ANTHONY
(1820-1906) American Reformer, active in temperance,
abolitionist and woman suffrage movements, president of the
National American Woman Suffrage Association (1892-1900) and
of course, she is on the $1.00 U.S. Coin. Rare signed book:
"Glimpses of Fifty Years - An Autobiography of an American Women",
c.1889, by Frances E. Willard, inscribed "Elizabeth Cady Stanton -
from her lifelong friend - Susan B. Anthony - Rochester - N.Y. - July 8, 1889"
on the first free page. Stanton (1815-1902) was American social activist,
abolitionist, and leading figure of the early women's rights movement,
as well. The book is rough with the boards scuffed, stained and
nearly separated, but the signed page has minimal foxing. There are
scattered stains on some upper right corners of interior pages.
On the plus side, there are some attractive portraits of famous women
in the movement and a nice 2-page color spread on pages 458-459.
This is a marvelous association.
