Exceedingly rare circa 1845 coin silver six-piece coffee and tea set (comprising kettlee on stand, coffee pot,teapot, creamer, waste bowl and sugar bowl with cover) by John Chandler Moore (one of the finest silversmiths of the 19th Century and father of Edward Moore, President of Tiffany from 1868 until his death in 1891) of New York and retailed by Ball Tompkins & Black of New York, in the shape of a pagoda, the entire surface engraved with scenes of lakes, fort, bridges,flowers, leaves, etc. each piece with applied, elaborately cast feet. Total weight 224 ozs.Dimensions: hot water kettle on stand 16 1/2 inches to top of handle by 8 inches in diameter, coffee pot 10 1/2 inches high by 8 inches in diameter, teapot 9 inches hight by 7 inches diameter, creamer 6 1/2 inches high by inches 5 1/4 diameeter (also charmingly in the shape of pagoda); waste bowl 3 7/8 inches high by 5 1/2 inches in diameter, sugar bowl with cover 6 inches tall by 7 inches across handles. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition. This is a rare, museum quality set.
