A Fine Edwardian 9ct Solid Gold Foliate Engraved Photo Locket PendantRare \'Shield Shaped Locket\'; Fully Hallmarked for Chester 1909
This is a rare and unusual \'Shield Shaped\' Edwardian Photo Locket / Pendant, which isbeautifullyengraved on the front & back with a foliate pattern. Thefront of the Locket has a cartouche, which has not beenpersonalisedby being engraved with a monogram. However, as this beautiful locket iscompletely decorated with fine floral engraving it could equally be worn with the reverse side facing outward(please see the detailed close-upphotographs provided, which form an integral part of the item\'s description).
This fine quality Locket is fully hallmarked on the reverse side, as shown, confirming that it is made from solid 9ct Gold i.e it is not gold plated and that it was assayed in Chester in 1909.This superb locket is in great condition with a good strong hinge and only a couple of age related dings to the front of the locket, which aren\'t too noticeable (please see photographs) and more mentioning for complete accuracy.
This rare Edwardian \'Shield Shaped\' Locket is complete with it\'s insert, however the original glazed panel is no longer there, although it can easily be replaced by acetate, which is readily available. The locket, which weighs 3.9 grams measures approx\' 32mm including the bail by approx\' 20mm; it only needs a chain to make it ready to wear.
