Offered here is a rare, very detailed vintage engraving of the Luxembourg Palace from the terrace. The print is marked No.20, and is signed Yvag(?). On the reverse side is pencilled \'Luxembourg.\' Paper measures 12\" x 8.1/4\" tall, Image 6.11/16\" x 4.13/16\". The Luxembourg Palace lies in beautifulsurroundings in the northern part of the Luxembourg Garden in Paris. The palace which was originally built for King Louis XIII\'s mother.
The Luxembourg Palace was never used by the mother of King Louis XIII, and remained empty for a long period. After the Revolution it was refashioned (1799–1805) byJean Chalgrin into a legislative building and subsequently greatly enlarged and remodeled (1835–1856) by Alphonse de Gisors. Since 1958 it has been the seat of the FrenchSenate of the Fifth Republic.
Condition: Good, light soiling, very small hanging chip on right edge, flexed forners.
