A fine Antique Victorian solid sterling silver gilt hunting horn vinaigrette and combination scent flask by Thomas Johnson London 1869
Originally retailed by w. Thornhill & co, 144 new bond street London

This superb silver gilt vinaigrette and combination scent flask is in the form of a hunting horn with original suspensory chain.The hinged cover opens in to the vinaigrette which is fully gilded and has a magnificent pierced grill elegantly engraved with a flower and foliate scroll designs
To the opposite end of the horn is the scent flask with a screw cap which is also attached to its original suspensory chain

Beautifully engraved with very ornate patterns and is simply stunning.
The hinged cover for the vinaigrette has an applied coronet and monogram which opens to reveal a gilt grill beautifully pierced and engraved with an elegant design. The gilded grill opens to reveal the original gilt interior the reverse of the hinged cover is also richly gilded. The original sponge is also present

The vinaigrette and combination scent flask has its original silver-gilt carrying / suspension chain and ring attached

T J for Thomas Johnson, Lion passant for sterling silver, Leopards head for London, Date letter \'o\' for 1869, and a Duty mark. Also stamped with the retailers mark of: W.Thornhill & co 144 new bond street London and a Diamond registration mark

Measures 4\" or 10 cm. Weighs an impressive 71.6 grams / 2.53 ounces
