Item description: Up for sale is a beautiful 1945 Bendix Model 526C Catalin Radio. This radio is in superb cosmetic condition. There are no visible imperfections on the case. If they exist, we have not made note of them. The color of the catalin is a dark green-brown color depending on the light. The finish on the radio appears to be orignial, however we have no way to confirm this. This radio has been tested and works as shown in the video. One of our staff technicians replaced the filter capacitor. This radio would make an excellent addition to the discerning radio afficanado\'s collection.
For an additional $75, our technicians will add Bluetooth to this radio. NOTE: Please message us after clicking \"buy it now\" butbeforepaying for the radio and adding this option. We will invoice you for the additionalamount. It may take several weeks to install the Bluetooth based on parts availability and technician time. The Bendix model 526C was one of 16 newmodels announced before an audience of 200distributors at a showing held in New York Cityduring October of 1945. The line marked thefirst incursion of Bendix Aviation Corporation\'sRadio Division into domestic radio production.During WWII, they had been a manufacturer ofmilitary avionics, but upon the conclusion ofhostilities they turned to home markets to helpkeep their large and skilled workforce busy.
According to the November \'45 issue of RadioRetailing (p. 167), the line was based upon 7chassis types built into 16 different cabinets.The 526C was their only catalin set, with itsstyling attributed to James Franklin Glover (indesign patent #146,907).
With its elegant lines and bold, contrastingtones of ebony and marbled green, the 526Csold well in 1946 and is a staunch favorite ofcollectors today. It is one of the few catalinsthat can still be bought for a reasonable price.
The AC/DC set tunes the broadcast band anduses tubes 12SA7, 12SK7, 12SQ7, 50L6GT &35Z5GT.
