Rare Huge Superb Antique Chinese Famille Rose Mille Fleur Canton Enamel Vase :

Up for sale is an exceptionally large and beautiful Chinese Canton enamel vase of birds, peacock and peony flowers. The vase\'s body is dominated by two oval panels, one side of twin birds about to land on a grove of blooming peonies growing amid rock crevices, another side a large spirited peacock standing amid flowers. The rest of the vase is decorated with intricate floral design and traditional Ruyi (good luck and auspice) symbols. The painting and enamel works are superbly done all throughout the vase\'s body.
Canton enamel wares are mostly limited to small to medium size pieces. This vase stands approx. 24 inches (56 cm), and is 11 inches (27.5cm) across at the thickest shoulder. It\'s a king size and among rare few largest pieces made. It\'s in excellent condition.
The vase dates Republican and could run up to 1950\'s but no later. A friend upon seeing it reported that a similar pair of such vases is in the collection of Chinese Guangdong (Canton as old name) provincial museum. But I have not been to the museum thus not able to confirm or compare.
