Takeuchi Chubei had a studio in Nagoya where this piece was made in 1875
Chubei was the first artist to successfully make a Pearskin (Nashiji) or sometimes called Sharkskin Peachbloom glaze on porcelain in Japan.
His signed and numbered work is very rare andhard to find. This vase has what appears to be a stylized Russian Double Eagle on the top of the neck, perhaps it was made for theRussian court or market. There is a pinhead size gold repair on the lip, professionally done and invisible.
It has aantiqueEuropean or Russian velvet box fitted for the vase.
Height is 7.5 inches. A rare collectors item, you can make a reasonableoffer.
