RARE KEAT FOR GRAVES Bb 7 KEYED BUGLE CIRCA 1837-40:
$5000.00

Rare Keat for Graves 7 keyed bugle in Bb. The photos tell the story. There are a few dings and dents but nothing serious. Missing one key. Horn plays but needs a minor or full restoration. I never cleaned it. Not bad shape for age. Not sure if mouthpiece is original to horn. Brass with copper trim. 10 1/2\" long. Signed \"J. Keat for Graves & Co., Winchester, NH\". Very rare keyed bugle. A little history: I bought this several years ago at the estate sale of a well known Hew Hampshire historian and collector (sale raised over 1 million). My interest stems from a historical perspective as well as owning a home in Winchester, NH. The previous owner bought horn at an estate sale in 1986. He researched and found that family descended from a long line of musicians dating back to early 1800s. So it is very possible, but not confirmed, the bugle was in the same family for 150 years. I hate to part with it but it should go to someone who will play and care for it. Horn will be professionally packed and shipped via UPS. Please email with any questions. Buyer pays all shipping and insurance. Please email for correct shipping. I will not give reserve or buy it now. Will consider all offers.
