This sale is for a very Rare Baifa10th Anniversary Cloisonné Fountain pen.This pen seems to have been commissionedto commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the BaifaCorporation. The pen was limited to 2000 units. It comes in a lovely wood box that when opened a golden plaque with some writing that I cannot translate).
Cloisonné is a beautiful art in which individual wires of a metal (usually brass) are bent to make forms (in this case flower theme) and then filled with lacquer. This sort of artwork is very popular in Lamps and Vases but it is very rare in fountainpens.
The pen came with a tag that includes an English translation and this tag includes some information about the pen including its suggested retail price. At current exchange rates, the price of this pen would be over $400 USD. However, this pen was commissioned in 2004 and at this point, the RMB to USD conversion was such that the suggested retail price was ~$600 not to include inflation. This is a very rare, very limited and unique fountain pen. Its Ultimate price might be uncalculable.Nib is very smooth and appears to be ~medium. The nib is rather large and beautiful two tone. Solid gold nib which is rather soft and gives a lot of line variation. Please examine the writing sample for an example of what to expect with this lovely pen!
